DEVELOPMENT

The Biggest Production Risk Is an Unanswered Question

An unanswered question during development can become an expensive problem during production. Fabric, fit, construction, wash, trims, measurements or finishing — anything left open to interpretation introduces risk.

THE PRODUCTION REALITY

There isn’t one single mistake that causes the most trouble in garment production. The real danger is uncertainty.

A construction detail that has not been clarified. A fabric behavior that has not been tested. A measurement nobody questioned. A wash result everyone assumed would be fine. A pattern detail that looked unusual but was followed anyway.

Any one of these can become an expensive mistake once production begins.

This is why we question a product before we manufacture it — even when the information comes from an apparently complete tech pack.

If we see a potential problem, we raise it. That can involve anything from fabric selection and pattern interpretation to construction methods, wash behavior and unnecessary cost.

Sometimes the original solution is correct. Sometimes there is a better one. The important thing is that the question gets answered before the product makes the decision for us.

RN FIELD NOTE

Protecting ourselves as manufacturers starts with protecting the product. If the product is safe, the project is safe.
